Production Shift Manager - Nights

At RJ's confectionery, we are now recruiting for experienced and motivated individuals to join our production Night shift as our Shift Manager working out of our very busy Levin manufacturing facility.

No day is the same at RJ's, so be prepared to be on the go. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is key in ensuring that production occurs in the most efficient, safe and cost-effective manner to meet product demands.

About the role

As a Shift Manager you are responsible for boosting operational performance and ensuring high Quality production is maintained in a safe , but efficient Manager. This role is responsible for linking the shift team to other teams by working pro-actively with other shift managers to implement improvement initiatives. 

• Provide feedback to Production Manager on team performance and highlight areas of concerns as soon as possible.
• Ensure open and effective communication exists within the team.
• Work with HR to maximise employee attendance and ensure planned and unplanned absenteeism aligns with set minimum targets.
• Be consistent in the management of employees on a day-to-day basis.
• Drive and motivate team to achieve daily targets.
• Ensure that product produced meets required specifications.
• Ensure that all direct reports and anyone seen entering the factory is dressed according to the company GMP Policy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• 3-5 years’ experience working in a supervisory or leadership role within a food manufacturing environment.
• Intermediated Microsoft Office and computer skills.
• In depth understanding of production processes.
• Sound understanding of quality, food and workplace health and safety
• Demonstrated experience in supervising, motivating and assisting in the professional develop of direct reports.

In addition, it’s essential that you have the following:

• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Sense of urgency, deadline driven with exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Troubleshooting ability, patient and level-headed (i.e. not short/quick tempered).
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to build rapport with direct reports and drive engagement.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Able to work independently and be a team player.
• Ability to work in an environment that is "hands on."
